What do you think of these loads?

OK, I have loaded 6 different loads and was wondering, in your opinion, which do you think is the best load? All loads are 9mm 115g, Remington FMJ, 1.135 OAL, light crimp, CCI primer, and mixed brass. I will be shooting them out of a Ruger SR9

I love 231 for my 9mm

I didn't vote!
I personally don't care for the 9 but do load it for my brother.
His work provides all of his duty stuff, so we load practice/play rounds.

The load is 4.0 grains of 231 under a .357 dia 122 Gr Saeco #377 TCFP. Mixed pick up brass, CCI SP primers.
This gives Velocity @ 10Ft, Av 1032 FPS from a 4 Inch Barrel.

I use a 'Lee Factory Crimp' die.

We have never had any function problems and the accuracy is suitable out of his fix sighted duty weapon.

So, if I were to vote in your poll, I would have to go with the lightest charge of 231. I'll stick with my .40 and .45 (also using 231 powder).

I have no idea how those loads will perform in your gun, but both are good powders. Start low and work up with them. You will find something you like.

For 16 years, my reference 9mm load has been Winchester 115 gr FMJ with 4.8 gr of W231/HP-38 at 1.135" OAL. It feeds/chambers in all the 9mm pistols I have shot out of and produces very accurate loads (for 115 gr FMJ loads anyways).

FWIW, depending on the pistol/barrel, I can produce more accurate loads with heavier 124/125 gr bullets.

I load a lot of my 9mm with Unique. The loads you list are from a mid level or start load to maximum with a 115gr bullet at 6.3grs. Its poor practice to load anything at over a start load the first time. Which one is "best" depends upon your goals for the load and what your gun shoots best. The only way to find that out is to work your load up from a start to something above the start to find if higher velocity shoots better.

115 gr Loads with Unique that I've chrono'd show average velocities of 1,151 fps for 5.2grs Unique (Glock 19), 1,220 fps for 5.7grs of Unique (Taurus pt92), 1,257 fps for 6.0grs of Unique (Walther P1).

Factory ammo FMJ Winchester WB, S&B etc usually runs around 1,150 fps while +p JHP's will run around 1,250 fps.

None of those powders would be my personal choice. I load 9mm with either Longshot, HS6, or AA#7. But load what works best for you. Just be careful about your seating depth, and don't allow a double charge to slip by. The 9mm is especially sensitive to seating depth, and will cause pressures to jump sky high when you go shorter than published OAL. .030" deeper than published can cause pressures to more than double, KB comes to mind at those pressures.

6.0 Unique + 115 JHP has been my "standard" 9mm load for about 40 years.

It seems to work in everything just like a factory load.

I went out today and tested these loads and found that right in the middle works best, I did noticed that 231 smokes at the low end and was I think the worst load, which barley ejected the brass

also I missed loaded 100 rd. of 231 @ 3.9g and it did not eject the brass, but when it did, i just fell out. It was my first ever reload and looked up the wrong info, looked at 124 g instead on 115g, lesson learned
