I live in a small town and only have 2 places that sell powder and primers, unless I want to drive an hour away. Price here is $29 for a lb of powder and $42 for 1000 CCI small pistol primers. Is this the average price or is our town screwing us? Also, i'm going to my first gun show in Las Vegas and was wondering if there will be good deals on powders, primers and bullets?

Current prices for Powder & primers from Powder Valley is about $20 and $31.

On top of that, you have a shipping & Haz-Mat fee.

Many gun show sellers and small gun shops bought powder & primers at inflated prices during the Obama scare, and are now trying to get all their money back. Many of them don't order enough at a time to absorb the Haz-Mat fee over a large volume of primers or powder

A real hi-volume reloading components dealer at a gun show will better reflect ordering in bulk to spread the Haz-Mat fee over a lot of powder & primers, and have more current prices because they didn't panic two years ago and over-stock then.

You will just have to do the math and shop around.

chris93555 Your lucky because the nearest gun store to me that carries reloading products is an hour away and the prices are the same as our local shops. I now just order what I need online. I try the gun shows but they are hit or miss. In the last two years I have only found two good deals. One was some cci 500 for $100 for 5000 and this summer I lucked up on some powder for $10.00 a pound.

My LGS and only one that carries much in the line of reloading for about 120 miles is 40 miles away on curvy roads (as is my grocery store, nearest walmart, decent hospital, you get the idea) Pwder runs anywhere from 21 to 26 per Lb, so pretty fair, but I od order my primers from Wideners or Powder Valley.. He seems to be proud of his primers, and I can guarantee it isn't because he is still stuck with stock from the scare/shortage or because he doesn't sell enough. He just never came back down on them for some odd reason.

I attend gun shows in several nearby counties and earlier this year, Winchester primers were $20/1K (Wolf/Tula $16/1K) and powders were running $20-$24/1lb. Needless to say, I stocked up on my favorite Winchester primers as I had plenty of Tula primers leftover from Powder Valley group buys. I picked up several 1lb powders but the 8lb prices were not as good as Powder Valley (I do group buys so HazMat is less of an issue) so I passed.

Last gun show I attended late summer, I noticed the Winchester primers went up in price to $23-$26/1K (Wolf/Tula $20/1K) and powders $23-$26/1lb.

Once every other month, i go to a HUGE gun show, over 1,000 tables and its 1.5miles if you walk all the isles, there are 2 big dedicated reloading companies there, and they charge between $16-$22 for each 1lb of powder (Most expensive being things liike Varget, cheapest being Power Pistol, most everything is $18 though), and Win Primers are $28 for 1,000. I usually stock up then on all Primers and powder.

If you have enough to buy, Powder Valley even with Shipping and HazMat can still save a ton, try to start a group buy in your area and split it all with a couple other blokes to help the cost.
