More on even federal gun laws and regulations should make sense. All to often, they don't, which leads to all sorts of problems that should be, and could be avoided, by changing or better yet, repealing the nonsense laws and regulations.
For instance, in order for a firearm to be "importable" it must be determined to be "particularly suitable for sporting purposes, or readily adaptable thereto". Simple enough, one would think, until looking at the following.
"Sporting Purposes", mentioned in the law, are nowhere defined in said legislation or regulations, correct me if I'm wrong. Sporting Purposes, one would assume would include hunting game animals, large or small, formal target shooting, which a number of people participate in, I used to myself, but what about less formalized competition, simulated "combat shooting" in the woods, with proper precautions of course, or "plinking". Where in the law is it required, specifically required, that an activity must be so formalized? I do not know, perhaps some reader might.
Next, what does Particularly Suitable actually mean, and according to whom. What are the standards that these unknown persons might use to make the determinations they are charged with making? I have asked, many times, and I have yet to see anything in writing. Are we therefore placed at the tender mercies of BATF Agents Dorothy and or Sam, who having been stuck in a terrible traffic jam on their way to work, are in a truly miserable mood in the morning? On the other hand, Dorothy and or Sam had a wonderful lunch, which old and dear friends, returning to work full of "sweetness and light", where all is well with everything? Are we to lay at the perhaps not to tender mercies of the subjective judgments of god knows who? Such a situation is less than acceptable, yet it seems that such is exactly the situation that exists, and which we are subject to. Something is terribly wrong with this situation it appears.
Finally, we get to that Readily Adaptable Thereto, which in English means exactly what? Once again, I have inquired as to the meaning of this term, and have yet to get any sort of answer. There certainly doesn't seem to be anything in writing, unless the writing has somehow been raised to the level of a State Secret. If such as that be the case, then there is most definitely Trouble In River City, where Pool is absolutely the least of our worries.
I will shortly be sending the foregoing to my elected things. Readers might consider so doing too. It's up to the individual, of course, just like always.
