i have been seeing a lot of makers lately doing amazing work using just simple files. i did a little file work over the weekend. this was a 12" Nicholson mill bastard file on friday. a gave it a bit of a makeover.

I'm not a big choil kind of guy but I prefer some kind of profile transition between the scales and the blade so I can tell when I'm getting my grip toward the sharp end of the blade.
Realize this isn't a working (butchering) knife but, just askin': What is this for?

Liontribe, you made that yourself, from a file? That is so cool, that is a great looking knife.

liontribe,
Nice work!

I have a custom knife made for me, by a good friend of mine here on THR made from a file. The handle I forget is elk or some other horn.

Me too. When I get my first custom folder, it will have "this kind" of filework or I won't buy one. The factory blades are just too good these days.
