I come home from work today and what do I find sitting on my kitchen counter top? A brand new Colt Combat Commaner XSE 1911 with a note attached to the box.

"Dear Son,

You worked hard this year and I know you've been lusting after one.... so consider this your Christmas present.

From your loving Father"

My old man came to my house and left me a 1911 as a gift..... AWESOME! As for wondering how he got in? He has a set of keys to my place.

Nothing quite like a father's love...enjoy your new pistol and the special relationship you must have with your dad. Best,
JD

My house too, though it wasn't Santa that delivered.

Was going to order a Sig 1911 C3, walked into the gun store last week and there it was, had to pull the trigger so to speak.

Don't you just love early Christmas presents.

BTW, last years Christmas present was a custom made pair of shoes that took 5 months to get. So I wanted to be sure I got this years in time.

That's awesome. I remember my father presenting me with a Ruger P90 for my 17th birthday. I loved his early-model polished stainless Colt Combat Commander (still do) and had asked before he went to a gun show (a couple months prior) if he might pick up another .45. I didn't expect that at all.

I enjoyed that story. Charish the relationship and the gun as a reminder.
There was a 30-30 Savage lever action rifle that my mom had promised me. She told me that I could have it when I someday wanted to go deer hunting. She passed on when I was 20. I went in the Air Force and upon my return I asked my dad for the rifle." Oh blank no, you can't have that." The gun stayed unused in the cabinet for another 10 years or so until he died. I was over seas by then in the army. My sister-in-law sold it to a stranger. Not everyone has such a nice relationship as yours. Appreciate it. As I'm sure you do.
