The recoil on the .50 isn't as bad as people think. I can shoot mine all day long and be no worse for wear. Even the AR uppers aren't that bad, the recoil on them is about the same as a 12ga with slugs. Most people say that the .50 is more of a shove and the worst part is the muzzle blast.

Yeah, I never understood what the big deal was about the .50's; especially at the ranges I've seen them shot; never seen one on the 1000yd line. Used to fascinate me until I saw one shot; some 'lil petite thing asked her proud boyfriend if she could shoot it. She was about 5'3" and 100lb. He got all wide-eyed and smiley and let her take a crack at the first round. I watched her physical reaction, and it was kinda like she came to a 10 mph stop with a seat belt on. Mild, to say the least. He was so proud of it; he asked me if I wanted a shot. I asked if he could take the muzzle brake off, and he looked at me like I was crazy, so I passed. Looks like an overgrown .30 cal to me. I'd guess from that last picture that plate's at 500yd or 500M. Seems like a mighty short way to shoot that thing. No flame intended; I know that most likely, the local ranges are probably too short. I see the film's most likely from Southern PRK. It'd be nice to take that out in the desert with the same red square and hit it at around 2000-2500yd. How's the accuracy on those babies?

The world record for a BR .50 is 2.97" @ 1000 yards for a 5 shot group. The guy that shot it, fired all 5 rounds in 48 seconds and they were all in the X-ring.

Most of the production guns will hold MOA or better with match or handloads. The Mil surplus stuff will do around 2 MOA.

Yes, the range is in SoCal and it's only 700 yards, better then what most people have. The plate that's in the shot was at 400 yards. We do make trips out to the desert to let the .50's air out, we have shot them out to 2000 yards.

I don't think you'll find anyone that would recommend you shooting a .50 w/o a muzzle brake.:what:

Aren't .50's great!!! :D A buddy got some video of me shooting my Barrett after dark. The muzzle flash wasn't as much as I thought it would be, but when the incindiary hit the steel target, it darn near lit up the whole hillside. :)
