Thanks to a good friend on here, I got a surprise in the mail today. It's a Buck 112 EcoLite (http://www.buckknives.com/index.cfm?event=product.detail&productID=3766) with black PaperStone (http://www.paperstoneproducts.com/information-landing.php) handles (which is a non catalog color best I can tell). It's far lighter than the classic wood & brass handled 110s & 112s I've handled in the past. The blade was very sharp out of the box, and the knife looks & feels well built overall. It's not tactical, but man is this little knife neat. :D

To my friend, you know who you are, and many thanks.

Buck has always been good about making hiker-friendly models. I remember the first time a backpacking friend handed me his Bucklite on the trail back in the Eighties. I couldn't believe a lockblade knife could be that light.

I've got a couple of the lightweight 112s.

As I write this, there's a red-handled version of that in my pocket.

Handy indeed.

I really like the 'feel' of the paperstone handle.

Plan on getting one of these. I recently bought a new buck knife after giving up a 3 year long search for the one I lost. I actually went cheap as its a knife to be use at work but I bought the Buck Bantam, which came with a Buck Nano...after a month or better of cutting tape, plastic wrap, plastic bands, and cardboard the knife is still very sharp and just now needing a quick touch up to get back to razor sharp.

Its just plain hard to beat a Buck knife for the price.

That looks really neat. Right up my alley.

I may have to treat myself to one of those; congrats! That was quite a nice gesture.

I'm pretty fond of the new Ecolite Series I kinda see it as the sucessor to the old school Bucklite line(I've got a 426 in my pocket today) however I may hang on to and EDC my Bucklites for awhile do to nostalgia .
