Does anybody have plans for a cheap homemade deer cart.
It can be made out of wood or steel.
I suppect you could use 15" or 16" bicycle tires.
It would sure beat dragging a deer back to the truck.

Look on Craigslist for a double stroller made to be towed behind a bike. Most of them will hold 100lbs and a few modification would increase that significantly. I got one for $25, stripped off the nylon fabric, removed the bike attachment pole, and used some plywood for a platform. Got a few more things to do to it, just haven't had time in the last couple of months.

never used a cart but I would go for larger diameter tires, at least 26"
easier to find tubes/tread for
larger diameter makes rolling over obstacles MUCH easier.

Keep some para cord on you, it you get a deer use some tree branches to make an A frame, put the deer in the middle and pull on the top of the A when you are by yourself. If you have someone else along with you, use the old pole carry by tieing the deer legs together insert the poll and hoist up to the shoulders. Then you dont have to store a deer cart someplace the other 11 months.

I found a cart hard to use around deadfalls. I got rid of it and have been useing a big plastic sled. In some ares a cart would work better but big wheels mean tippyness in rough terrain. Another idea is a long wheelbarrel like hauler with wheels the legs, made to pull rather than push, or tandem wheels.

Why don't you just buy one from a place like Cabelas?

I find a cart useful. Saves my back, heart, and leg musles. They are not great on really rough terrain (steep or rocky), but if you are moving along trails or logging roads, they work great. Sleds work better in the snow.

My family uses a homebuilt aluminum cart of a top secret design that is perfectly suited to the type of hunting we do. I can't show you though, or I'd have to kill you.:D We may try to patent it.
