I've never actively hunted coyote. I'm on a 6k acre lease that has some pretty strict hunting rules during deer season, but in off season it's pretty much an open deal.

I've talked to some friends and I think we want to give the varmint hunting game a shot. I just don't know where to start. I've watched videos on youtube, but I don't know what calls to buy, what landscape to hunt, etc. There are already blinds positioned that have been there for years, although I think hunting on the ground would offer a greater field of view.

We have a lot of thick brush with intermittent open meadows with a lot of cactus. There are also a lot of scenderas cut into the brush to hunt through.

I've got 22 hornet, 223, 17 rem, 22-250, 243, and 6mm in the varmint killing territory.

I have a buddy that works with a lot of leather and he'd like to try to tan the hides.

Well I just got started in coyote calling myself. Really the biggest part of killing coyotes is learning how to call them in.

you are too serious, coyotes show up, you shoot them. calls work ok but just hunt over a kill, they are always hunting themselves, common sense, and wait for them, forget about hunting mag articles. pure BS.

The 22-250 or the 243 ought to be the best shooters for those yodel hounds.

wow sounds like you have all the perfect fire power! I'm a fan of the 6mm! give the primos hotdog howler a try and the primos kiyi ( i believe that's how its spelled) They have worked excellent for me. Its fun to get them answering your calls, I'm not to good with other calls these seem to be pretty forgiving hope this helps!
