I am in the market for a set of adjustable sights for my CZ 75BD. I like the sights on my Kadet, and I don't want to spend a lot of money, so I was thinking of a set of LPA TPU sights. These are the same as on my .22, are cheap, and don't require a gunsmith to install.

However, it seems that the sight hangs off of the back of the slide, thereby increasing the sight radius. Is this legal for IDPA? Has anyone tried these? Are they any good? Are they easy to install, and are the old ones hard to remove? Do I need any tools, or would any special tools be particularly helpful?

Thanks for the help.

I just put those sights on my Bereta 92FS last night. Ive only shot about 400 rds with it but so far I like them. I installed the sights my self with a hamer and drift punch. The dovetail mount on my Bereta was very tight and a pain in the ... to remove but not as bad to put in. I didnt use a brass drift so if you have one it might help. Im not sure if its IPDA legal though. Hope this helps.

There is no limit on sight radius in IDPA. As long as it is of "conventional notch and post type" and still fits in the Box, you are ok. I used one of those sights on a Combat Commander for a while before my FLG got a milling machine. It was ok but not up to a Bomar.

The dovetail is tight. You probably need a vise with padded jaws to hold the slide and a brass drift rod to get the sights out and in.

I have high-profile fixed sights on my CZ-75 pre-B, but they were shop made by that FLG and are not something you can order from Brownells.

Thanks Binkus and JIm, your experience is appreiated. I'd hate to buy and install new sights only to find out that they are terrible or that I can't use them for competition. Thanks.

Two more questions, if you don't mind:

(1) On a CZ, when looking at the sights from behind the gun, do you drift the old sights out right-to-left or left-to-right? There seem to be conflicting answers on cz forum http://pub105.ezboard.com/fczechpistols82792frm15.showMessage?topicID=356.topic

(2) Where is the best place to buy a pair online? PSI sells them for $61.35. Ajaxgrips.com sells the same brand, but not for the CZ, for $39.95. Anybody sell the CZs for cheap?

Thanks

Well, somewhat disappointing. One of the reasons that I wanted adjustable sights was that the gun shot about 1.5 " high with WWB, even when I dotted the sights with the target.

Now, although the new sights are easier to see, the gun shoots 0.5 " high with WWB. I guess the lesson is that I should have bought the sight set with the new front sight.

Oh well, it improved the situation, and if I want to switch to hotter ammo I can dial it in exactly.
