I received this a while back and would really like to know who made it and the value before I start using/abusing it. I definitely like the quality but...

Is it an auto or just a button lock?

Oh, it's an auto... very, very auto. I have to keep reminding myself to not limp-wrist it. There is however, no lock. I also forgot to mention that it is 8 inches when opened. The B&I inside the wings is completely foreign to me and I'm thinking the tubes are shotgun barrels? Then there's the number - I don't know if it's model or serial.

Anything on the other side?

Reminds me of Robbie Dalton's work, but it doesn't bear his mark.

Nothing on the other side... mirror image of that shown without writing. I had thought the letters were B&T until I used a magnifying glass and saw B&I. The wings look Euro/Russian to me and the shotgun barrels (?) make me think Ital/French sporting. It sure does feel nice and seems eminently practical.

close up of blade looks like B.J not B.T, but nothing with a logo like that comes up on a search for either. Weird.

Looks like B.I to me, but I didn't find anything on that, either.

Guess I could see it as a "J" as well. I hadn't thought of that but as you noted SniperX, there are no returns there either. Were this a crappily made piece of poo, I guess I'd throw it in the tool box and not care. But...

Try taking those pic to bladeforums.com and post in either the Identification subforum, or in the automatic knives subforum. Somebody ought to be able to identify your knife.

Thanks for the Blade forum advice but I use it so infrequently that being a paying member as I need to be to utilize the simple attachment option doesn't make sense right now and I'm at a TOTAL loss as to understand the URL option for bringing in photos. And we all know how well requests for help without photos works.

You should be able to use the images here on THR.
Simply paste the image link braketed with the html code like so, (IMG)http://www.thehighroad.org/attachment.php?attachmentid=153047&d=1321750520(/IMG), but with both () replaced with [].
The result is:

Todd, I know almost no html code. I know just enough to get myself in trouble, as the saying goes.

It should look like this - http://www.thehighroad.org/attachment.php?attachmentid=153047&d=1321750520

How do you get the IMG tags not to function as an HTML command, as illustrated above? Just bracket them with noparse /noparse, in []brackets[] of course 8^).

Barrel industries

From this thread (http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/113231-Double-Barrel..........knife) on Blade Forums:
It was made around 1995 by Brett VanWinkle from Nebraska. He called his company Barrel Industries. He is out of the knife business now. I think there was only one basic model with several handle insert and blade coating options.
(More detail in that thread.)

KnifeMart has this item (http://www.knifemart.com/details.asp?prodid=BARIND001&cat=10&path=):
(In Stock: 1)

This is their only model of knife they made. The knife is available only in gray bead blasted part serrated edge.

$165.00/Unit
Barrel Industries: Barrel Industries has been defunct for several years. The people have all scatterd to the wind. The knife was well built with quality materials, and fit and finish . It has an ATS-34 blade with a partial serration and has a black Finish on the blade. The handle is 6061 designed with a comfortable hand grip. This is a large knife and well suited to hard cutting chores. This is a very collectible knife.

The images aren't fabulous, but you can plainly see the double-barrel logo.

Hope this is of some use.

Thanks for the info Arfin', I couldn't find anything over on "blade" myself - but then I kinda suck at searches sometimes.

Wow! "This is a very collectible knife." I can retire now - no, wait, I guess that's the seller sayin' that. Nonetheless, Its a very well made knife and I'm happy to see the blade is ATS. I guess however, that I won't be beating on it now.

Nice detective work! Here's his iKnifeCollector page http://www.iknifecollector.com/profile/BrettVanWinkle

Todd,

An auto collector would be likely to take that info and your knife and offer a nice trade or cash for it.
