Removing brass marking on the frame?

I accidentally rubbed some brass (either zipper or ammo casing) on the blued 1911 frame, and it now has unsightly yellow streaks on it. Does anyone know how to remove this without harming the blue finish? I've used flitz on prior incident (brass from ball pen) and it rubbed off the blueing.

Cold bluing solution should lift the brass marks off the frame without seriously disturbing the blue, but I haven't tried enough solutions on enough finishes to know for certain that it won't disturb the original finish; I just use Kleen Bore Black Magic to lift brass marks off my S&W revolvers without problems.

Thanks, I too believe that simple cold blue (brownell 40/40) will lift it out. As matter of fact I think I've done it before on rear sight, when I punched it with brass punch. Couldn't remember that. Cold blue solution doesn't seems to harm matte blue, but I would never use it on polished blue.

Something like Hoppes copper solvent will remove the brass marks too, maybe just light oil and a rag.

Put some shooters choice copper solvent on a patch. Lay the wet patch on the spot and leave it for 5-10 min. Scrub with a nylon brush. Repeat as necessary. Renewing the solvent with a few extra drops every 5 min or so helps.

I do this all the time with no effect on the finish.

I agree with the others, I personally use Sweets 7.62 on a cotton swab and rub as small an area as I can till the brass is gone, it removes all those pesky brass drift pin marks
