I've had an Aimtech rib-rider on my turkey gun for about 8 years. It works great for mounting a red dot out front.

My gun is an 11-87 with a 21 inch barrel (the one I have the mount on) and a 28 inch barrel for other birds. I like being able to just swap out the barrels.

Also, I can swap my turkey choke for an IC and buckshot/rifled slugs print very close to the center of my turkey load's pattern.

Hmm, could reduce parallax error on cheap red dots I guess. The eye being farther from the optic reduces the viewing angle change relative to side to side head movement.

I would not want to put a heavy scope like that on one!
A red-dot would probably be fine.

Depending on the make & model of the gun, some ribs are not going to stand the recoil with the weight of a scope added without doing some damage to the rib.

They are designed and mounted to the barrel to withstand thier own weight under recoil.
Add another pound of scope or so clamped on, and all bets are off.
