I am looking at a new carry sidearm, the choices are... S&W 438 Bodyguard, S&W 638 Bodyguard, Taurus 85 ultralite, Kahr CW9, Keltec PF9. All prices are within $100 so thats not the issue.
I already have a couple of J frames that i like but no Bodyguard styles, i also threw in a couple of semi's that have caught my eye....which would you go with?
Also, I want something that I can put some wear on and not baby, but when i need it, it will be there and go BANG!

I'd buy ammo and training using the J-Frames you already have. All the guns on the list fill the same role as the J-Frame. Now...if you want to switch to a semi-auto pocket pistol, then the Kahr is probably the way to go.

........outta those listed, I would go with the 638.

You have the J-frames covered. Of the guns listed I'd go with the Kahr.
It would be harder for me to choose between the Kahr and a 642 though.

But why buy yet another pocket gun? Do you have a full sized gun? Just put a J-Frame in each pocket (holstered in a DeSantis Nemesis) with a speed strip and call it good.

I guess I don't understand what you're trying to do here.

Why would you want to carry a Kahr CW9 instead of a CM9?

Just got a itch for something new, I have several full size pistols.

I'd go for a Kahr based on what you already have and the desire to shot more often.

I like the Bodyguard frame and I like the Blue/Black finish of the M438 better than the brushed Aluminum of the M638. I carry a M442 over the M642...

Since you already have a couple J frames, I voted for the Kahr for variety. But I'm with Cokeman... the CM9 is a peach.

You mentioned the PF9, but have you considered the Ruger LC9? Mine is a sweet shooting little gun.

My Dear Wife has a Keltec PF9 that shecarries in the pocket of her blue jeans sometimes.
I, myself spent a little more money, and bought a Ruger LCR, in .38 special, which is in the pocket of my Wrangler jeans, as I type this. It's what I carry about the house. When I leave, I switch it out with a .357 magnum LCR, which is just a little heavier to carry.

You already have several j-frames. Get the Kahr semiauto.

You may already have J frames, but the 638 is the best of that bunch. Go with it.

Which would I get? Well that is easy to answer considering that I carry the Kahr anywhere I go and have for the last two years. I can say without a doubt that I have no qualms recommending it to someone else. Is it for everyone? Absolutely not. I also do not consider it a pocket gun, but man that thing simply disappears with a decent holster. You do not have to dress around your gun which means you can dress however you wish and according to the seasons.

I would try to fire one before buying as I would suggest with any gun. It has a stiff recoil spring which is why they recommend a 200 round break-in period. That spring though really helps with the recoil and therefore it recoils much softer than other guns its size. The trigger is on the longish side but it is extremely smooth. I also like the bar dot sights. After the break-in period I haven't had any problems with any ammo including HP's. The only problem I ever had was my first time firing it I rode the slide home a little and it didn't go into full battery. If you read the manual though they recommend using the slide release instead. Even sling-shotting it after the break-in period gave me no problems.

Hope that helps.

Ruger LC9 or one of the Scandium .357 j-frames (340 M&P or 340 PD).

I agree with buying all the J Frames you can.

Kahr CM9--a good bit smaller than a j-frame, with one additional round.

The CW9 is a very good IWB pistol. A bit large for pocket carry, IME.
