FNP 40 Question...

Hello, I was cleaning my fnp today and put a dummy in the chamber (the barrel was out being cleaned) and the end of the round was somewhat wobbly in there, is that an issue, or does it get squared up when the action is in battery... hmm, i probably just answered that, but let me know what y'all think... :)
Thanks,
Bryan

bigger chamber makes it load more reliably

Or maybe your dummy round isn't as big as it should be.
Either way it is not a problem.

I just checked mine with a live round (field stripped) It wasn't quite a millimeter, but I could wiggle it...maybe a half a millimeter all around. If it were much tigher though, the rounds wouldn't feed...especially if they had powder residue all over them. The only malfunction I have had in my FNP-40 ater 1083 rounds was a reload in which the bullet did not seat properly and was crooked. It loaded into the chamber, but not all the way, it was about a millimeter from letting the slide go into battery. It took A LOT of force to pull the slide back and eject it too.

Hey thanks HOO! Yeah I checked this afternoon and it comes out to maybe just under half a mm...
I've put about 400 through it without any failures, and no factory ammo... however, (here goes)... I'm having difficulty getting a point of aim consistency, even off a bench, at best it seemed to be low about 3 or so inches, at about 5yds. so I was curious if the play had an effect. Hmm thanks for your input, there could be crooked rounds, and most of my fmj projectiles have pull marks.

I recently just traded in a FNP40 because I was disgusted with how it shot. I was having the same issues as you were I could not get any accurate groupings. My groupings at 15 yards were like 7" and my groupings at 25yards were over 12" (with my glock 21 I shoot 3" groupings at 25yards). I also felt that the gun shot low when the sights were held level.
Did you have the issue were the slide is getting knicked when the gun is fired just below the P (forgot which side)?
Anyway I finally had enough with it and traded her in for a Sig 22p Elite Dark.

It took awhile for me to get used to the sights. Like you, I'm also used to Glocks, and I shoot my G21 very well.
The FNX also shot low for me, at first. It's cuz the sights are a lot taller than Glock, but like Glock, they're regulated to shoot at the center of the dot.
I think my brain still rejects this DOT style aiming, and has sorta rewired in order to conpensate when shooting a Glock while stil referencing off the top of the sights. After getting used to it, my FNX shoots just fine, and quite accurately, too.
I dunno if it's as accurate as my G21, but it's right up there with my G19 and way ahead of my G27. Putting any average combat gun up against a G21 is unfair, IMO. :)

Yeah my g21 just seems to know what I want, but after a trip today, I felt as though the fnp trigger made me slap some, and I have a little more confidence after slowing down and focusing more, I will also remember the dot center now and I feel this should do it. Thanks you guys!
as far as the nick goes, it seems there is a scrape that formed above the take-down lever, however I believe that it was from the spring not being in the correct position, I'll sharpie it and see if it's still nicking next time out.
Ps: gonna go with your advice Gloob, I still believe! :)

glocks are the same way, and is one of the main reasons they enjoy such a rep for reliability.
you don't want tight "match" chamber dimensions on a combat pistol.

Yup...I just figured when I bought it I didn't look it over good enough and it was like that. I don't even know what it is hitting that makes them get knicked like that.
