Tonite's CSI has a vic shot with 5.7x28's. CSI crew examines casing and concludes none of them ever saw or heard of the cartridge. The some time later their ballistics specialist shows up and recognizes the round and say they can't be bought in the US.

I thought Hollywood had better pro help on these types of shows.

The adage, they say, is to "write what you know" and, every time, h'wood always does.

Besides, the p90 has to be a super gun, otherwise SG-1 wouldn't use it against aliens <g>

That's funny, if 5.7x28 can't be bought in this country I guess the local gun shop is selling black market ammo!!!

A fictional program said something incorrect about guns? Sure, its annoying, but I dont find fictional accounts nearly as bothersome as supposed NEWS that cannot keep the facts straight. Fiction is just that...made up. When the media presents something as fact, and has the details completely wrong, thats something else altogether. I actually read a news article earlier this week that described a gun as a "semi-automatic machine pistol".....Ok, which is it people? A Semi-auto? Or a Machine pistol? it damn sure cant be both since they are completely different creatures.....

Isn't this the same program where all legal guns are registered in a database in Florida, and they make comments as to whether the gun was or was not legally registered?
When in reality Florida specifically prohibits registration of firearms.

I don't watch CSI but I have here and there in the past and it is pure fantasy. They take some science, exaggerate capabilities way beyond reality, and figure out things with absolute certainty in an hour show representing generally less than a few days.
They portray it as realistic, throw around actual terminology, and do a disservice to the potential jurors of a country based on the jury system.
Giving potential jurors false expectations and excessive trust in physical evidence that may not mean what the investigators and prosecutor claim, because on CSI they are always correct.
While hurting prosecutions that don't give physical evidence they come to expect after seeing it as how all things are proven in CSI.

The general consensus with these shows is that they are very opposed to private ownership with guns. On top of complete bogus information that they put out there, they quietly put fear into watchers because "it's way to easy to get that scary looking gun?"

NCIS took on 50 Militia members armed with guns that normal people (us) can't even get with 6 people. Come on.

In a later episode the guy takes out a pilot by shooting through an airliners windshield and killing him. WITH A 9MM!

That show is probably the worst with firearm errors, but CSI and Criminal Minds are pretty bad too... Some of the other shows like Person of Interest and The Mentalist are actually pretty good about firearms, esp. the first one.

Person of Interest is pretty good with firearms. The actor who plays the main character actually trained with Delta Force prior to filming. The only thing that I've found wrong with that show is that they keep using the PSO scope reticle for both an Eotech and a mil-dot scope now :D

The episode where he blows off the car hood with the Barrett 82 is pretty comical too... :D

THR exists to foster discussion about real-life gun and RKBA issues. Movie and TV nonsense is better discussed elsewhere.
