I have a chance to get a 686+ snubby for $329. It is about 90%+ and has been shot quite a bit.
Is this a good price for this weapon?
Are there any problems with the 7 shot version of the 686.
Also, I have a chance to get a LNIB Nickeled Smith model 13 snubby for $299.
Is this a good deal?
I know it is a great gun.
Thanks in advance. :D

I have a 686+ 3" that is one of my favorite revolvers. I have had no problems in 4 years with it. The price is a little high for a well used specimen. I would expect to pay around $275-300.
The M13 is a good but not great price. They are getting harder to find.

I just saw one for $299 at my local "hangout"..
So, $329 doesn't sound like that bad of a deal. :)

$300 would be a good price for the 686.:)

I would buy the model 13, the reason is that it is a better made revolver and is of carbon steel which will hold up better than the new stainless models.
You can always get a new 686+ at a later date.
I have a 686+ made in 1999 bought used with about 3000 rounds through it, and it appears to be wearing rapidly.
Put both guns in full lock up (cock hammer and pull trigger lowering hammer holding trigger back, check for play in the cylinder) my bet is that the 13 will have better lock up.
check the timing by slowly pulling the trigger until the cylinder stop locks in the cylinder notch my guess is that the 686 will have one or two chambers that do not lock up.
Also check the rifling if the 686+ is well used it wont have much rifling in the barrel.
I'm sure C.R.Sam will agree with me about the new stainless guns.
YMMV

The price depends a lot on where you are. Prices seem to vary by area, especially with used guns. In my area it would be about right for a 686+ in that condition. I have several 686 seven shots.
No problems with any of them. The lnib model 13 nickel snub sounds like a better deal. Nickel is getting hard to find, especially in that condition. Would appeal more to a collector.

I think thet're both good deals, which one you buy depends on what you want.Fixed or adjustable sights,6 or 7 rounds, they're both great guns and i think i'ld take whichever one is in the best shape.
