I'm waiting for the movie.

I've read Unintended Consequences twice now and I encourage anyone else who is willing to read it too. So, Mr. Ross, when is the movie?

Anyone have suggestions on ideal cast members?

Here's a suggestion: Music by Ted Nugent. I think of the ATF attack on Henry Bowman everytime I hear "Stormtroopin'."

Director? Clint Eastwood comes to mind.

"Get ready, stormtroopers are coming get ready."

I know I'd pay good money to see it.

Unless someone like John Milius (sp?) - the director of Red Dawn - directs it. any UC movie will be sanitized and made more PC, like The Sum of All Fears, where Arab terrorists were replaced by (of course) Nazis.

Imagine a UC movie made by . . . Michael Moore. :what:

How could you sanitize it? Make the ATF the good guys and Henry Bowman is a redneck with a beer gut?

C'mon theres gotta be some wiseass independent director out there with a pile of money who wants to create a stir.

My dad and I used to sit around and discuss the casting of various books made into movies.

So who would you cast as Henry Bowman? I doubt he'd do it, but Harrison Ford would be pretty cool I'd think.

I always pictured Henry as having sort of a young, boyish quality. That said, he'd have to be deadly serious about protecting people from corrupt government and politicians.

SPOILERS - Go read UC if you haven't :)

The best character part for him in UC was (SPOILERS) when he was at his father's side when he died...absolutely beautiful. So any actor who played him would have to be able to get this scene right.

I'd like to see Michael Moore try to direct an action movie. Action movies with big stars and huge budgets are a tight ship to run. They actually will calculate how much money is spent per minute to do a particular sequence. Given Moore's slipshod work ethic an action film done by him would break all records for being not only vastly over budget but also devoid of anything approaching decent cinematography, lighting, sound, etc.

IMNHO, UC would work far better as a mini-series than as a movie, even if it were to be 3 1/2 hours long.

One would hope that Michael Bay wouldn't be allowed anywhere near this one as director.

I'll be the college aged Henry! I would have no problem teaching fine young ladies to take care and defend themselves.

I'm willing to bet that there is some cable channel out there that would at least be interested in taking a look at a possible mini series. It would have to be a mini series to preserve all the important parts of the story. Especially the important historical background.

Lifetime?

Maybe John Ross cameo as Ad Topperwein or John Browning.

IMHO The best actors for this would be mostly relative unknowns. No big stars. Case in point: Later Batman movies(bad) vs. X-Men(good)

Can't think of any specific people, though.

It would also be expensive to do scenes like Waco, unless done from the standpoint of Watching it on TV like Henry's uncle. Ample footage available.

Anyone know how hard it would be to get permission to fly a plane through the St. Louis Arch?

They'd probably do it with special effects nowadays. :P

A mini-series would probably be better. No need to cram 100+ years of history into a movie.

Would you set it in a world without 9/11 or after 9/11?
