I have a new-to-me 1100 Classic Trap with a LOP that's a bit too long. (I'm 5'7" and 155.) Looking for someone to fit the gun to me in Lafayette/Golden/Lakewood/etc. Any recommendations?

Well yeah--I'm also not going to play catch on the interstate or drink my own urine. No Gunsmoke for me. :)

Seriously, I know a gunsmith named Bert, but I don't know if he does things like that, and I don't have his card here at home with me. He's up in the Westminster area near I-25 and 120th. I'll try to remember to fetch his card from my office and come back here to this thread. He's one of the regulars on the Colorado AR-15 forum, under BPTactical.

<duh> I just realized all that info is on the other forum under the Industry Partners section. Here's his website... http://www.bptacticalservices.com/

There’s Jim Jamison at Colorado Clays. He’s around $500 for a fitting I think. I’ve seen some negative reviews but I’ve never used him so I can’t say how good he is or isn’t.

Jim Botsford used to be at Kiowa Creek but he’s no longer listed on their website. He fit a Beretta AL391 for me. I just never shot that gun well before or after the fitting so take that for what it’s worth. I paid $250 for the fitting.

That’s all there is in the Denver area that I’m aware of. The next closest that I’ve heard of is Jon Hollinger in Aspen, Colorado or Jim Greenwood in Kansas.

Wise move getting fitted! Off-the-shelf shotgun shooters (same with golfers) have NO IDEA what they're missing by asking their swing to match their equipment...rather than vice-versa! You might visit an Orvis Store (are they still around?). They fitted a Beretta to me 30 years ago. Clay games became a whole new experience!

I remembered Bert from CO-AR15 last night and got in touch with him. I think he'll be the guy.

There's actually an Orvis store near me, in Boulder, but I think they would completely lose their minds if I walked in with a shotgun. :)

When I frequented their store in Houston (30 years ago?) they were a TOP spot in town for; Clay Shooting Clinics (by visiting Pro Instructors), fine (English) Double Barrels, fitting shotguns to shooters & World-Class accessories (leather shell bags, tweed jackets & hats, etc.). It was a pure treat for a KCB (Kentucky Country Bumpkin) to shop there.

Wrap it up in some really ugly plaid pants. Orvis seems to really like ugly plaid.

They still deal in a lot of hunting stuff but I think the stores focus more on fly fishing.

I don't know about Colorado, but I recommend this video as a starter to see where you are with the gun before you begin. At least it won't hurt to watch it :)
