Awhile back I purchased a little Bersa in 380ACP. I have popped a few rounds through it, but made no attempt in trying to see how accurate it is.

I had my chance today.

At twenty-five yards I was hitting a two-inch "splat" target with regularity. I used a rest, but twenty-five yards is a good distance for such a small handgun. Besides I am not the best pistol shooter in the world. However, this little gun was making me look good.

Not only is it accurate, it is also reliable. I made several batches of different reloads. It digested everything without any problems. I even shot a few rounds with cast bullets. Again, no problem.

It is cottontail rabbit seaon right now. We have a pretty good population of them this year. There are some areas where you pratically trip over them while hunting birds.

So, I am going to see if I could pop a bunny with this thing. It might be fun.

Do you all thing it would be adequate? Has anyone here tried hunting with the 380ACP?

380 acp should be adequate for a rabbit at 50 yards. Hitting it might be another matter.

Check your game laws as some only allow .22 for small game hunting Beside bigger bullets do more damage and head shots are perferd. Take a 22 rifle.

Rabbits is good eats. :D

I have been contemplating the 15 shot Bersa on and off for a while. Not for Rabbit protection though.

I realize that distance could be problamatic when shooting a small auto. But the bunny population this year is great that you darn near trip over them when walking around the scrub.

I also realize that minimizing meat damage is critical. But wouldn't a nonexpanding slug from a 380ACP cause less meat damage than a lead slug from a rimfire?

It's amazing what keeping the barrel from moving around on the frame will do for a pistol's inherent accuracy. lizziedog1, are you shooting a 380CC?

I love my CC model but with my old eyes and reflexes the rabbits would be safe. I will stick with a scoped 22.
