Hard to say what I'd "expect". What I see as reasonable products that I'd like to see:

A duty-sized (ie, 15+ round double stack and 4+" barrel) 9mm from Kel-tec.

A more competition oriented SR9 with a 5" or so barrel and no manual safety.

What I WANT to see is a decently priced Bushmaster ACR as well as an HK36 produced in the US :)

What I'd realistically like to see is to get my hands on a Kel-Tec KSG.

Yeah right, Kel-tec makes new and innovative products, not alterations of what has already been done for decades.
I'd like to see Kel-tec triple their production so that they can finally meet demand. And actually sell all of the cool guns that they've designed recently (RFB, KSG, PMR-30).

Any cheaper then that and it would have to a rim-fire caliber.

I think if it became a mainstream caliber that everyone made guns and ammo for?
The price would be about double what it is with FNH selling it at cost to promote 5.7 gun sales.

If they ever give up and throw in the towel and stop making those two guns?
You can bet 5.7 ammo will double in price overnight, at least.

Um 9mm, .40, 45acp, 38 even 380 nowadays.

Prices for 5.7 are more in line with your 357 sigs and 10mm

Make no mistake about it this is a handgun round albiet a very modern one.

Realistic: 9mm version of the Sig P238. Polymer framed Springfield EMP or similarly lightened version. Something new from Glock. I don't care myself but it's probably overdue. 101 year anniversary 1911s, you guys just don't know when to stop. More polymer, less metal everything.

Fantasy: Single stack CZ RAMI. Kel-Tec PF9 chambered in 5.7x28 with oh maybe 20 rounds in a double stack mag. Ruger 10-22 chambered in 5.7x28. Kahr MK9 with a DA/SA and external hammer. Ruger Camp Carbine in your choice of semi-auto pistol mags such as 1911, M&P, XD and XDm, Sig, CZ and okay, glock.

.22LR versions of the LCP and LC9 for training
A 9mm version of the S+W Bodyguard

Want to see:

A changeable backstrap version of the CZ P07

A SR1911 / R1 dedicated to USPSA

If Marlin can get their act together I have a suggestion to revamp their lever action line.

1) Move all of their square bolt side-ejects into a "Classic" or "Legendary" category. Re-introduce the model 1893 (1936) into that line along with the 1894 and 39A lines. Cater to the cowboy action and legacy crowd. I want a brand new 1893 in 30-30, case hardened receiver, please.

2) Design a scaled-down 336 for .22 and .22 Magnum. Make this the premier .22 lever action of all time, several grades of quality up to a gloss-stock + some engraving for a "special edition". Stainless would be a very good option. Keep the 336's, 1895's and .444 coming right along.

You can't lose with this line up. Just make 'em right.

I expect to see more plastic wonder 9mm's that will be called "pocket 9's" except they still won't fit in any normal pocket.

I think we are going to see more guns available stock with threaded barrels because I think the Suppressor movement is catching steam and I think in the next few years (maybe not 2012) we will at least see suppressors move to AOW status.

I would like to see an inexpensive .308rifle that is semi-auto

I would also like to see a true budget AR (under $500)

Almost every gun mentioned was for shooting someone and not hunting.

There must not be much hunting these days.

Just because a gun isn't for hunting doesn't mean it's for "shooting someone". I personally hunt (mostly duck hunting these days - I only drug myself out deer hunting once this year), but over time I've just found that I find target shooting much more fun and relaxing than hunting.

As another user also indicated, there's simply not that much to do on the hunting side as far as weapons advancement. I've already got a few bolt action rifles and shotguns for hunting. Just personally, my bases are covered - nothing further interests me there.

That's because you're stuck in an idea of hunting somewhere closer to the Eisenhower administration than today

For example look for all these rifles in 300blk to be extremely popular in the woods. Which IMO rsilvers needs to push that angle much more. It'll be the deer hunters who'll take this cartridge somewhere not the o.01% of folks with a suppressor

I hope that manufactures will start offer at reasonable prices (below 500) kits that include the gun (9 or .40 or 10) with .22 conversion kit included in the deal (and designed for the gun).

This whole cumbersome process of spending 300 bucks for a .22 conversion so that one can practice with cheaper ammo -- just does not make sense. And should be covered by business-savy, consumer oriented manufactures.

Kudos to EAA, SIG, Beretta, Kimber, CZ for making at least .22 conversion kits available -- but they are too expensive, and should be sold together with the main gun as a kit.

Shame on Glock, XD, FN, Taurus, HK for not making the .22 conversions available from the manufacture

Also hoping to see that TCM .22 by REA takes acceptance, and other companies build the guns and ammo for the TCM. Great idea -- hope it takes off.

Here is a list of some of the gun-related things I hope to see emerge this year, or at least in the near future.

1. A short, compact 30 caliber cartridge that is ballistically similar to the 308 Winchester.

2. More gun companies to come out with their own version of a revolver that is chambered for shotshells. Come on Ruger, its your turn. If you feel that the 410 has been beaten to death. Consider a 10 gauge revolver.

3. More tactical gear. Tactical toilet paper would be cool.

4. A short barrel shotgun with 75 points to attach things to. One could use one for a fishing reel. Then if that fish gets too agressive you have a quick solution.

5. A gun show about guys making silly things and attaching them to even sillier things. I want to see a 50BMG attached to one of those electric scooters used by the elderly.

I have more, but I don't want to take up too much space and time.:D

I would like to see a reasonably priced (500 or under) O/U shotgun with two triggers and a ejector that is good quality. I would also like to see five round semi-auto 308 non detachable magazine with a 18 inch barrel and a wood stock that goes all the way up the barrel but hopes are low for both.

Want or expect?

What I expect is another company making a revolver chambered for shotshells. Another mini-9mm pistol. And if there is anyone not making a 1911, they will try to start.

What I want is quite another matter. An American-made Olympic-grade target pistol would be welcome. A repro Remington 1858 revolver ready for world-class competition out of the box. Ditto for a flintlock duelling pistol. Something beyond the endless parade of Glocks, Sigs, 1911s, and clones.
