I have a friend who had a 12g with the shell stuck and would not load up in the gun. We took it apart and when we pulled the part with the firing pin out another spring with a metal cap came out. I have no idea where this thing goes back in. Any help would be appreciated.

Just an FYI the Mossberg 1000 is the same exact shotgun as the S&W 1000. S&W sold the license to Mossberg, both the Mossberg and the S&W where manufactured by Howa in Japan.
