United Forums (http://www.unitedforums.com/firearmsforums.htm) has a Marlin forum that's not very active (dead would be more accurate). Maybe with the demise of Marlin Talk action will pick up.

Thanks , but I've been here a long time just do more reading than posting, as I do on all the forums I frequint.
I've been to several other forums tonight & most of them have threads about this. Kinda looks like Marlin got a lot of their customers upset. They may regret the way they did this with no warning or anything. They just shut it down.:( :uhoh:

Add another refugee to your list. I haven't been posting much on Marlin Talk lately, but have been active on H+R/NEF Talk. They both will be missed, but we do have other sites to visit. I spend time on Handloaders forum, Loadyourown forum, and Shooters forum, that's where I had learned of this site. I think sales of Marlins and H+R/NEFs will suffer greatly from this. The information I was able to get from other owners had led me to buy 3 Marlins, and 5 H+R/NEF guns. Oh well.

another H&R refugee here. I wish they would have given a little notice before they just shut it down. There was a lot of good info lost there.
oh well

That's too bad...I really enjoyed Marlin Talk. I have to admit though, I was always suprised that they allowed the pissin matches (and everything that came with them) to be seen on their corporate site. Limited moderation can be a good thing... but there's always those who abuse it.

We were posting at the same time WildsaywhatsonyourmindAlaska.
I was thinking the same thing. I was told I was going to "burn in Hell" on my second post over there...over sumpin to do with Sasquatch methinks.:D

All in all....the VAST majority of Marlin Talk folks are good people, who are willing to share knowledge...like most shooters. Their loss is THR's gain. Welcome!!

I'm very surprised. I purchased 3 Marlins as a direct result of feedback from the talk forums. I'd love to get a group together to voice our combined displeasure. Being left high and dry will definitely weigh heavily against me buying another product from them any time soon. I saw that forum as a sounding board for their products and the feedback was from real people that have the same shooting requirements as me, not some magazine gun tester that gets paid to say nice things about whatever he gets to test for free.

I check Marlin Talk now and then -- always enjoyed it. I didn't know until just now that it shut down. There were a lot of vitriolic posts about customer service and QC.
They are an old New England company. I tried to reach them during the summer one year and was told that the entire factory shuts down at once for vacation. They leave the plant idle for a couple of weeks a year!

And another refugee here. It seems that just when a good forum gets going someone has to pull the plug. Since I've been reading different forums it was first shooter's talk and now Marlin talk. Both of them were my favorites to read first. I wonder how long this forum will stay open?

is the off-shoot of the older "The Firing Line"

with over 9,000 members, hopefully it will be around a long, long time. I've tried to check out about every other site. Nothing comes close to the knowledge and info here

Be advised that crude, rude, or inconsiderate behavior will be deal with in a timely fashion. Also, infomation here is typically quite accurate. Anyone giving "facts" that are unverified get called out pretty quick.

Welcome

Shooters problem was several shooters shooting off their mouths. Some say Marlin was suffering the same fate. I was an infrequent member there so I don't know for sure. I do know that it won't be tolerated here. The members here will set things straight long before the mods get involved. Sit back and enjoy, but warn the trouble makers that non-respect will get them shown to the door.

I used to go there every once and a while. Fell in love with that sasquatch thread. Except when they started telling each other they were retarded for believing. I just liked hearing storys about 45/70's........
