I wonder what other crimes Kanada suppresses to maintain the illusion of safety? :barf:

I don't think it's so much an "illusion of safety" they're trying to maintain, it's the illusion that they're going to be able to find a jury that hasn't heard about this case. The REALLY unfortunate part about this case is that the Liberals abolished capital punishment back in the 1970's (despite a majority of Canadians still wanting it available as an option), so this piece of slime won't get what should be coming to him. They spend more time and money IN PRISON protecting these animals from other inmates than any sane person should. :barf:

The Canadian government has such absolute authority over the nation that they simply believe that anything they choose to do must be for the best interests of the nation. There are no checks nor balances to control the government and individual citizens or even organized groups have no power to challenge it. No wonder a recent study named Canada as the least free and democratic of all western nations.
All hail Big Brother.

As an american hog farmer, let me assure you that the behavior of that sicko isn't common practice.

Apparently Canada has 'subjudice' style press restrictions like the UK is that correct?

I understand the that the RCMP are being extremely tight lipped about this one. They are spending millions searching for evidence, literally searching for DNA across the entire pig farm, many feet into the ground.
They don't want this guy getting off because evidence/witnesses were spoiled by stupid reporting.
Its no different from a gag order used in US court cases.

Certainly the RCMP is well advised to remain tight lipped, but US gag orders are issued to parties involved in the legal action, rather than the media.
... But most Canadians don't know any of this horrifying evidence because the country's media has been barred from reporting it
Not only would this not stand up to the first amendment, I highly doubt it is actually effective either. I think they might get Fox news, and perhaps even the internet up there in Canada.

Prudent, the 5-round cap for semi-auto RIFLES was first passed by the "Conservative" government a year or two after the Montreal shootings by Gamil Gharbi; at the same time, they also declared most "military-style" semi-auto rifles as "Restricted", meaning you could only transport them to and from an approved range for target practice (no more hunting with them). When the "Liberals" came in, they flipped most of those "Restricted" rifles to "Prohibited" status, which makes it even harder to use them legally (you need a specific Authorization to Transport to take them ANYWHERE).
As far as the registration/C68 BS goes, the Liberals aren't going to do anything useful about it at all; they already have too much capital invested in this white elephant to admit it doesn't do anything useful, so we're going to have to vote these %^*&s out if we want something that makes sense.
