I plan on building an AR set-up for some long range shooting. I was looking at some uppers, and the barrels had my wondering what I should get. It will be mainly used in some 300yrd shoots we do at the club. The shoots mainly consist of rapid fire, so I would want a barrel that dissipates heat quickly. Should I go for the spiral barrel, fluted barrel or just a stainless super bull barrel? Thanks for the help.

depends on what you are shooting at.

if you are just shooting steel then pretty much any of the ones above would do ok.

if you are shooting for the smallest groups possible then a .920 by shilen, whiteoak, sabre, kreiger, or satern would be my choice.

Olympic makes some very accurate and nice barrels

I'm just curious what barrel will dissipate heat better.

I would go with a bull or a fluted barrel to dissipate heat faster.

Surplus arms and ammo sells Black hole weaponry barrels. Another goods source for barrels is Rainier arms.

look at a NM profile barrel from white oak. their "house" barrels (which are wilson or douglas or something) have always been good enough for me, but you can get a krieger from them.

i wouldn't sweat "rapid fire" too much. especially if you mean CMP style 10 rounds in 70 seconds.
