I saw two deals that seem decent. A Stevens model 86c that they are asking $70 for, and a Marlin Glenfield model 60 that they are asking $60 for. Both of them have pitting/rusting on the barrels. I am particularly interested in the Stevens because it is a bolt action, but I do not know anything about Stevens rifles. With the Marlin I know I will be getting a quality rifle and parts if I need them. On the other hand, I don't know anything about the Stevens.

Does anyone have information about the Stevens rifle?

buy both, stevens does makegood rifles, and those are good prices on both.

I doubt you could spend $130 better then that

From how little research I can turn up on the model 86c, it seems like it would be hard to get replacement parts for it

Do you know what year the 60 is? If it's older that 1980 ( I can't remember exactly what year they changed) but it might have the old style feed throat that is getting harder to find and can begin to split over time. It can be changed over to the new style, but takes replacing more that just the feed throat. I have a couple of early 80's 60s, both Glenfield and Marlin, that I am quite fond of.

I'm not sure what year the Model 60 is. When did they shorten the magazine? It has the older style magazine that holds more rounds.

buy the marlin, it's getting really hard to find the older ones with the long mag and 22" barrel

I think it was 85 when they changed the mag length, and some where around 78 was when the feed ramp was changed to the new style.

I have a 81 Glenfield and a 83 Marlin, both with long barrels and mags that shoot great.
