How is a B.C. over 1.0 possible?

I thought I understood the BC figure, but obviously I'm missing something! I thought the given BC figure for a particular bullet was a "numerical rating" on how easily it slips through the air, with 1.0 being an almost unattainable perfect score. If that is true, how is it possible for .50 A-Max bullets and others to have a 1.05 and above BC rating? Thanks-

BC is merely a scaling of a standard drag model. In the case of a BC greater than 1, the bullet is simply more efficient than the model.

Helotaxi I had it right. It is basically a ratio, with the model in the denominator. typically the model is more efficient, resulting in a numer less than 1, but not always
