I was wondering what the easiest way to mount a scope on a mosin nagant was. I would rather not drill and tap the receiver as I am not confident in my non existent skills. Thanks

The only no-drill method I myself would use is to remove the front sight base (it's held on by two pins) and use the dovetail it's mounted on to mount a pair of rimfire scope rings. Then use a LER or pistol scope.

Jmeck scope mounts have been pretty good also. s&k make a decent rear sight replacement, but as Clipper said, id just use the rail under the rear sight, if you have one, along with adjustable .22 rings.

The rail under the rear sight is only on the 91/30, 91/59 or 91 models, the long rifles. The shorter carbines don't have that. The rear sight comes off easily, there's two pins to drive out and the base is soldered to the dovetail, but apply some heat with a torch and it taps right off.

There's many other options for scoping the Mosins, all depends on how much you want to spend on that $100 rifle.
