looked at that yesterday. It looks like it does have a bolt hold-open, but it's not the kid that has an external release. Could be wrong about that, though.

Could be swapped out for something less Kaybee-Toys, at least. ;)

I like the orange sight base....gives it that "Nah, that's only an Airsoft" look. Surprise!!!!

Paint the entire front end orange and be done with it. ;)

Ahhhh. Nice to see an operating rod, rather than direct gas impingement. Should be easier to clean, and should stay cleaner through more rounds.

Oh. I thought it was a kaboom thread. :)

Gee Whiz! Another firearm I must save up to buy. That is sweet looking. What is the pricing on this?

Suggested retail price is $640. I'd guess that it'll go for under $500 after the initial hooplah dies down........just a guess.

The bolt looks like pure AR, the bolt carrier like a modified AK bolt carrier.

Guesses at parts that might interchange with AR-15...

Bolt
Extractor
Cam Pin
Firing Pin
Mag catch
Ejector & Spring

What I'm also thinking is that a gunsmith might be able to fit an AR barrel on this gun without too much trouble...

I already had my dealer call their distributor to find out exactly when, guess I'll be in on the initial hoopla. Might buy two if I like the one. Thing has serious potential.

John, actually it looks to be a pretty straight forward adaptation of the AR18 gas system.

That may be true, but since I know exactly zip about the AR18, I couldn't comment! LOL! :D

I got a question. How will a plastic sight rail effect the accuracy if you use a scope? It has a plastic reciever. I'm thinking at first that it won't be that big if a deal, but if you were to use an ARMS or GG&G quick release with an Aimpoint it might mess the plastic up over time.

Any thoughts on the plastic?

John, actually it looks to be a pretty straight forward adaptation of the AR18 gas system.Absolutely not. It has more in common with the AK-47 than the AR-18. The Armalite design has a separate floating piston or cylinder up front with a thin, lightweight operating rod. The reason they can do this is because any 'whip' in the rod will not be transmitted to the piston, cylinder, or bolt carrier. The AK-47 is merely a piston head loosely pinned to the bolt carrier yet still allowed to whip in the cylinder. The disadvantage to this system is that the rod connecting the two has to be very stiff and therefore heavy. The piston on the AR-18 is a separate piece with its own spring, on this gun it has no return spring. I'll email anybody that cares to read it the full patent.

It's been done before. It depends on the type of plastic and the engineering.

Thank you Bam Bam for the link. I could spend hours looking at these parts drawings and figuring out how dey do dat. (the drawing, not the gun ;) )
