As a matter of fact I just saw one this afternoon, 12" blued barrel, stainless steel frame. Did not examine it in hand, so not sure of the maker or model; .44 cal., nice looking piece though. Sorry could not be of more help, but I am thinking it was a Pietta.

I'd like to have a blue or case hardened frame with a blue barrel version. Would be sweet with the removable buttstock.

yes, I have one- http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=565431&page=21 check post #511 Got it from Cabela's about 13 years ago when they still had them. If you don't mind the extra costs of importing from Canada check marstar. They're made by Pietta, but for some reason no longer imported to the US except for the stainless and brass framed versions. I don't even know where to get a 12" barrel for them... does anyone else?
Jaymo, I mentioned having it case hardened and pretty much everyone on the forum just told me how ridiculous it'd look:rolleyes:

Armi San Marco also made a Buffalo target model with a steel frame.
Here are photos of one that was proofed in 1994.
