Dad has inherited an old Schrade double switchblade that is missing a button and both springs. I am looking on recommendations on where to get it fixed. I would love to find someone in MI, but I know I may have to send it out to get it done right. http://www.muskratmancustomknives.com/custom.html has already been suggested on another forum, but I always like to have more than one option.

I don't own any autos but I can attest that Kaleb of Muskratman Knives has made several quality fixed-blade knives for me. One of my favorite knives and my "go to the brush" blade is his Puukko, which I have owned for about 4 years.

I don't think I've ever heard of any complaints about him.

You may have a hard time finding a "maker" to fix your automatic.

You can purchase leaf springs from knifekits.com. Button replacement is going to be a more difficult problem. I'd suggest sending images to mustcratman and asking him if he thinks a replacement is possible.

You can also contact Jerry Skelton (731-656-2443) and ask him what he thinks it would cost to replace the button.

You'll have a tough time finding a someone in MI to fix an automatic, they are illegal here. Misdemeanor to own, possess, carry, etc.

I wanted my Benchmade auto's resharpened by the factory under warranty, had to go through an authorized Benchmade dealer, and because they are autos they wouldn't touch them.
