Going to look at a 627 PC 8 shot 5" gun today my question is are the hammer and triggers MIM or forged? for those that have owned them how are the triggers would they need work? the seller said the gun is about a year old I am not sure I believe that as it has the aluminum PC box I thought those went away three or four years ago. Comes with 2 sets of grips, full moon clips, shoulder rig and unfortunately keys to the lock which will go away very quickly it will be a target gun and I can't pass it up if like he says roughly 50 rnds fired. Asking price $600.00 would this be a -5 or has there been another engineering change?

$600 is IMO pretty low for a 627, even a couple of years old, especially considering he’s throwing in a shoulder holster? Mine is a 2011 and it came in a Grey plastic case, not aluminum. The hammer and triggers are MIM. For that low, I gotta ask whats wrong with it.

I don't own a PC gun, but I've shot one. The trigger was ok. Not bad, but not great, either. I'm an admitted trigger snob, though, and most of mine have been tuned. IMO, it's a rare trigger that can't be improved by some good gunsmithing. Whether this particular gun's trigger "needs" work is subjective - it depends on the gun itself (every gun is different), your application, and what you feel is a good trigger.

Based on your description, it sounds like a very good deal, though.

Go buy that gun right now! S&W will take care of anything that is wrong with it. I paid $800 for a -5 with the aluminum case with combo lock and have had many people tell me I got a great deal. The one I have is simply amazing!

PC Shop revolvers generally have forged hammers and triggers. The trigger should be solid - may be flash-chromed, if not CCH. Also, there will be a piece of a roll pin in the upper backside of the solid trigger as a trigger stop - to limit the travel. A MIM trigger will be hollow on the backside and, while untraditional, would be very strong and uniform, dimensionally. PC Shop customers expect fitted parts, thus the fitted forged parts - and higher cost. That $600 is a deal... just look at the bore carefully, just in case one of those fifty rounds got 'stuck'! It could just be a great buy.

I am actually paying a $50.00 more than he was asking it was listed at $550.00 but since he couldn't do the deal yesterday he said he was going to sell it to someone else if they offered more than $550.00. I told him I will pay a extra $50.00 to take the local online ad down and it assures me of getting the gun kind of like a insurance premium. I really don't like fixed price sales turning into auctions but was not going to risk losing the gun and feel it is worth more than $600.00

For a soft shooting, 8-round, N frame .357mag, yeah, i should say so.
I have ZERO available cash right now, but if I found out about that deal, I'd be all over myself trading away one or two of my guns so I could snatch up that deal.

Just got home with the gun what is wrong with it you ask? won't hold cock in single action push's off with no effort can't even shoot it in single action as the trigger starts to return and push's forward. S&W is sending a call tag should all be taken care of. The gun was actually purchased in 2004 but other than the push off it is in excellent condition came with the wood factory combat grips as well as 2 boxes of ammo and the locking case.

I own (7) PC Revolvers in various calibers/configurations and shoot (4) of them in Competition(s) ... ALL required trigger work, which is understandable, since product liability laws (and lawsuits) dictate much heavier trigger pull than would be expected on (so-called) "hand-built" guns.

Overall, I am very pleased with the "lot" and will buy more when "new offerings" become available.

I have one I bought in 2006 Its a great gun my 13 year old son can hit a tennis ball at 25 yards with mine and its his favorite. I paid 850 for it new and that was the Wholesale price from Zanders to my club FFL at the time. If the gun has push off could have come that way from the factory, but more likely is some "Gunsmith" screwed with the hammer or trigger. S&W will take care of you but may charge to replace the hammer if it was screwed up with a file and they have to replace the part.

Agreed. That would be a small price to pay and would still give you a great deal on the gun.

You got a great deal, parts are easy to replace. I feel that I got a good deal several years ago at $750 and I would buy every one I could get my hands on at $600. Best revolver I own and I have 12 S&W revolvers, 3 PC.
