Can anyone here recommend a nice inexpensive scope for my new Marlin 60 22lr semi auto. Will be used as a backyard plinker and pest control (Crows) =-) and other types of hunting. Try to keep the price down because I only paid $99 for the rifle. Thank You WalMart.=-)

Great little shooter this gun is.

I found a nice Tasco 4X with the large glass (4x32 maybe) with the 'tip-off' rings included for $25 at my local Dunhams Sporting goods. Was marked down from $45, so must have been a closeout. It is much better than the 4x21 or so that was on my old Marlin 99, which was also a Tasco.

Tasco scopes are not known to be the best going, but for an inexpensive glass set for a 22 plinker...OK ! ! !

I don't know if Dunham's exists in your part of the USA, but Big 5, MC Sports and Dunhams seem to be about the same in what they have for sale.

I also bought one of the Model 60's about 6 months ago from Wally World because I got very tired of literally lugging around a heavy target 10/22 with a 6-24 scope for pest control. It was a package deal that had a no-name scope thrown in. As soon as I saw it, I thought "well that POS will have to be replaced". Know what? It's still on the rifle and works well. So, my point is that a cheap scope may be the answer for you also. 22's don't beat up a scope as much as most any other caliber you can name. I would look for a Tasco or Simmons of 4X or so, or maybe a better quality used scope like a Weaver or Burris in a similar power. Also check eBay, you'll often find real deals there.

I agree with you that the 60 is great little shooter, I would recommend it to anyone looking for a fun plinker.

I have a cheapy NC-Star scope on my Marlin bolt action .22

I wouldn't go trying to adjust it alot and expect it to return to zero, but it works very well on my $50 rifle!! :)

My Model 60 has worn a Tasco Pronghorn for many years. Can't even remember when it went on. Surprisngly bright image.
