Need a holster for a 1911 with a TALL front sight.

Years ago, I rebuilt my AMT hardballer into a dedicated host for a Ciener rimfire conversion with fixed sights... I know, I should have got the adjustable sight model, and would have, if I could have found one.

Now the Ciener conversion has a hidden Bomar in the rear, with Novak blank up front that is now .290" tall.

Does anyone know of an affordable holster (say, around $50 or less) that will accommodate the unusually tall front sight? I know Fobus is out of the question, Blade-Tech said it would be too close to call.

I really don't want to add to my box of holsters (if I can find it), and would rather not buy an expensive competition holster (such as CR Speed, or similar) that will only get used with a plinker, which has already gotten to be pretty expensive over the years.

Thanks in advance.

Does the gun shoot to point of aim? If not, file it (the front sight) down till it shoots to point of aim (and will also fit the holster, in all likelihood). If it does shoot to point of aim, then I'll have to admit I'm stumped, though I haven't found a 1911 that wouldn't fit in my (recently sold) bladetech 1911 holster.

my brother-in-law has an old 1948 Colt .38 Super that was customized by Alton Dinan for target shooting; it was converted to shoot .38 Special WC. that's not the only odd things about it; the first thing you notice is the odd, tall front sight:

it's not his carry piece, though he has carried it occasionally, and has two IWB holsters for it. i'll have to ask him what they are; i can post the answer in a day or two.

Rail Driver: Yes, it shoots POA. I don't have a lot of room to bring the rear sight down, so filing the front down is not an option.

jahwarrior: Thanks, and that is an interesting piece, to say the least.

Some of the smaller kydex makers may offer custom options, like a taller sight channel at little or no charge.

Talon Tactical A-10 is in your price range.

This is a common issue with some revolver holsters where the original had fixed "battle" sights and the more expensive models had adjustable sights that dwarfed the originals. A no frills leather holster from one of us small guys will run you between $50 and $100. Increasing the sight channel depth is not a big deal and should not incur additional charges (IMHO).
