Looking for longer bbl on Smith 28-2

I have a S&W 28-2 N-frame .357 that is almost 34 years old.
It has a 4" bbl and I'm looking for a longer barrel to put on it.
Anyone know where I can get a 6" or 7" barrel for it?
Thanks

Why not just buy another S&W 28-2 with a 6" barrel?
I'm sure if you look around you can find one pretty
reasonable; perhaps with the letter "S" serial prefix.
I would not want to destroy 34 years worth of history
with a barrel change! The only two barrel lengths that
I know of for the 28-2 are 4 inchers, and 6 inchers. And
both shoot quite nicely.

Gun Parts Corp. list a 6" barrel for $150 (see here (http://www.e-gunparts.com/product.asp?chrProductSKU=325730A)), but warn that it may not be in stock. Give them a call.

FWIW!...By the time you've purchased the barrel (don't forget about sights), and have a "smith" do the work, you could have purchased that other 28.

I simply purchased both.
There were no .357 Mags. made with 7" barrels, as far as I know.
Possibly 6.5" and definitely 8 3/8".

The Mod 27's came with 8 3/8" barrels (I've got one) but I don't think the Mod 28 came with other than 4" or 6". Both mine are 6".

Model 27's came in 3-1/2, 4, 5, 6, 6-1/2, and 8-3/8 inch barrels. Model 28's were available in 4 or 6 inch trim. Please don't mess up a 4 inch model 28, just go buy a 6 inch model 28.

Concur with the other recommendations: Buy a 6", leave the 4" alone. If you need to raise capital for the 6", your 4" should draw some attention in our "For Sale" forum. Heck, I'd like a 4-incher to go with my 6".

I have a 6-inch with nice trigger that shoots only to the speeds of a 5-inch barrel. Accuracy is plenty good. Want to talk? (If'n I have 6 shots instead of 7, I'm looking at a 586...) It's pre-agreement, but no pin, no recessed chambers.
