I am posting this on the behalf of my father. He has an old JC Higgins shotgun from the 50's I believe. Back in the 70's it broke and the gun smith told him he rolled the reciever. The gun is still sitting intact at my grandfather's and now my father is wanting to know if it can be repaired? I realize I don't have that much information, but what exactly does it mean when the receiver has been rolled?

That is a term I have never heard before.

My only guess is, the bolt locking lug recess in the top of the receiver is battered or "rolled" to the point the gun is not locking up correctly.

Other then that?
I don't have a clue.
