The perils of working in a gun shop...

...you're always around when the good trades come in.
This one's a Colt Detective Special, Third Issue.
Older gentleman traded this little fella in on a Glock 22 a few days ago. Yesterday, I decided to give it a new home.
It's in remarkably good shape for a gun that was made in the early-to-mid 1970s. He said he "never did shoot it much." It came with the Tyler T-Grip adapter pictured, and a well-worn pancake basketweave high-ride holster that just screamed "old pro."

Very nice revolver... what kind of rounds are those? I love the silver/silver look in my rifle.... so I have to ask about them. Maybe I can get reloads for it!
EDIT: The rifle in question is 7.62x54, and 7.62x39, so maybe that maker doesn't make that caliber... hmm.... still worth a question.

The ammunition in the picture is Winchester Silvertip .38 Special +P.
I tried all my J-frame holsters, and I found out that the Detective Special is small enough to fit into all of them. That means I already have a Galco Ankle Glove, a DeSantis Speed Scabbard, and a handful of assorted other holsters for the new Colt.

Remember to keep your regular job too. If you are anything like me, I'd never see a paycheck out of any decent gun store I ever worked in on account of all those "deals"

Most of ther shrouded ejector rod models came with the larger grips. Those old style small grips make a big difference in the concealability of the D-frames.
That Colt is a keeper!

Is that a six shooter? The speed loader is a five round.

"The speed loader is a five round."
The picture angle makes it look like a five round, but I believe that there is a sixth round just behind the round at the bottom right. At least, that's how these old eyes see it.

How can you build a pool while you are spending so much money on guns???

Yes, it's a six-shooter. The speedloaders are regular HKS six-packs, size DS.

I've shot one of these alongside a S&W Model 36 and there wasn't much comparison. The Smith, while nice, is nowhere near as classy and easy-shooting as the dick special. I cannot imagine trading one in for a chunk of plastic.

Those Colt d-frames are just wicked cool.
