"During the opening week of West Virginia’s 2012 legislative session, Delegate John Doyle (D-57) introduced House Bill 2229, legislation which would limit the number of handguns that law-abiding individuals would be able purchase in West Virginia. This “gun rationing” bill has been sent to the state House Judiciary Committee for further consideration."

Alright guys, Its time to start writing those letters and making those phone calls. This is incredible, and if we West Virginians allow this to pass then shame on us. Richard Thompson and Don Perdue will be hearing from me very soon...(literally in the next 10 minutes with an E-mail)

Sample Letter I just sent to the afor mentioned people.

Dear (Politicians Name Here),

It has come to my attention that Rep. Doyle of Jefferson County has proposed a bill that would limit the lawful purchase of firearms to law-abiding citizens. Sir it is of my opinion that this is a breech of my Second Amendment rights laid out in the US Constitution, and echoed in the West Virginia Constitution. I hope that you do see this proposal as being unconstitutional, and will act accordingly to fight this bill before it becomes a true monster.

Sir, I believe you will be hearing from quite a few residents of Wayne County on this matter, I intend to make sure of it. The voting
population of our county does not take kindly to gun grabbing/limiting schemes, as I'm sure you know. I truly look forward to hearing back from you through E-mail or by phone at :xxx-xxx-xxxx

Sincerly,

You might want to ask him if he was elected by citizens of NY or DC, who are pushing this law or the citizens of WV who he supposedly working for.

I completely agree. Haven't wrote Doyle a letter yet because I'm truthfully not sure I could be cordial. The local politicians pretty well stay in line, but you gotta remind them every so often. I live at the Western most point of WV, so our beliefs are very much removed from those of DC and such.

Former Gov. Doug Wilder (D) passed legislation here in Va, that limited handgun purchases to only 1 within a 30 day period. This has made no change in the crime rates whatsoever. Then later, they backed it off, that if you had a ccw permit, you were exempt from the law. Now they are talking about scrapping it all together due to it had no effect on the crime figures. A Mickey Mouse law is all it is. Hope you guys defeat it...Good Luck!!

1) It'll go nowhere, the same as every anti-gun bill Doyle introduces every year.

2) Doyle isn't running for re-election! :D

3) Don't blame all of us here in the WV eastern panhandle for sending him to you - he only represents Jefferson Co. Those of us just a little further west sent you Delegate Miller. :D:D

There are a lot of pro- and anti-gun bills that have been introduced. You can track them at http://www.wvcdl.org/LegislationTracking.html.

Violators would be subject to a $200 fine and up to ten days in jail.

Is this guy a total nutcase or what??
My guess is he loves to get attention, even if it is negative.

After the Gunwalker scandal, the gov't worrying about gun rationing is like worrying about people watering their lawns, when the county has busted open all the fire hydrants!

It is strange to me that this post has not been sensored (closed) when other posts here that discuss GOP candidates position on the Second Amendment are closed.

That probably is because the OP is offering a suggestion to write letters, and even offered a sample letter:

Also probably has to do with that I haven't specified anyones political party.

Anyway I recieved a few replies from a few offices, generally just the typical, "Thanks for writing, I'll take it into consideration, blah blah blah." Still, always important to voice your opinion, who knows how people will vote if not coached correctly.

Just read this and passed it around on Facebook a few days ago. I will write Rick and Don for sure, bend their ears if I see either one of them. Don't understand Doyle and checked and emailed the others on the committee. This was pushed in AZ and the other border states and have no idea why we are considered a threat to anyone. Why don't you folks up in the panhandle move him into MD? I live in Wayne Co. also and that just won't fly down here.

Thanks for the support guys. It does often seem that bills are introduced that in no way reflect the views of most West Virginians. Most, not all, but most seem to come from the Eastern Panhandle. I don't really blame the residents for this, but more so pressure from the DC area and such. Although I do pass a little blame to the residents for electing these jokers.

Oh, and its good to see fellow Wayne Countians on THR!
