Now that Al's had a chance to get to know his new knife, I figure I can post a few pics to share...

Forgot to mention something I think is unique about this knife and one other I've made: black micarta 1/4" pins. I can't find a source for them, so I made my own. I think they're cool and "subdued" looking.

And it looks better in person. The green is a bit more olive and really works well with the sheath.

Showed it off at the LGS Friday and thought I was going to have to shoot my way out if I wanted to keep the knife.

:neener:

It really is an awesome hunk of metal. I got to see it in various stages of the work.

I think the warning diagram should be your logo.

Nice looking knife SAM. What is the OAL, blade depth, thickness and steel??

Looks like it could handle anything you could come across and then some.

Me too. It's great.

JB,

The steel is 5160, my overall favorite steel for toughness, rust resistance, easy of sharpening and value to cost. It's a little over 1/4" thick at the spine. I'm far away from mine- though the width is a little different on V1 and V2.

Nice looking knife SAM. What is the OAL, blade depth, thickness and steel??I'm at the office at the moment, but IIRC the OAL is right at 14"-15". Blade on this one is about 1-1/2" at the belly. (The V2 version is about 2" deep there.)

Thickness is a heavy 1/4" at the spine and steel is 5160, as John said.

Looks like it could handle anything you could come across and then some. Yes, they do give that impression, in the hand. :) John has been impressing upon the utility of small knives, and of large ones as well. Funny...a year ago I was the kind of fellow who could get along just fine with a simple locking folder ... now I'm equipping the mastodon slayers of the world! :D
