For those of you with the Hornady Lock-n-Load, I've heard some have added the Dillon Primer Alarm System mounted to the top the primer tube to sound a buzzer when the primer tube is empty.

I'm aware that Hornady did not plan for this option, but while I can add the alarm onto the top of the primer tube fine, it interferes with the case-activated powder drop in station 2. Even without the primer alarm, the primer tube shroud rubs against the powder hopper on the way up.

Anyone else done this successfully? What am I missing here?

My $.02 worth: For me, it is glaringly obvious when I push forward on the handle to seat the primer and the primer tube has run dry. It feels so markedly different that there is no way I could miss it.

I did this several years ago with the RCBS branded one. It will clamp to the primer tube retainer but don't do it that way if you have your powder dispenser in station 2. In station 2 you do not have clearance. It contacts about 1/32"-1/16" bump on the powder reservoir body working it loose, spilling primers. I had a custom bushing made to replace the plastic retainer which has a screw retainer.

The above for sure. If your measure is touching the primer tube you need to turn the measure so it won't.

I don't clamp mine down on the Dillons because you don't have to. I just lift them off an place them on the LNL when I use them.
