Please help me pick a handguard rail for my Spike's mid-length AR. Should I go 9" or 11"? SAR/BAR/Other? What brand? Would like to keep under $200, but the cheaper the better as long as good quality. Most likely will mount forend grip and some type of light. So far like YMH,Troy and Spike's. Any suggestions based on your experience? New to AR world so confused with all the options.

I'm really interested in the Midwest Industry Gen 2 drop in. it's within your budget, and more importantly it's the lighest rail on the market.

For a free float I'd like a YHM lightweight, also within your budget and has favorable reviews.

Yeah, YHM diamond free float handguards are solid and within budget. Try vtsupply.com or westernsportonline.com, both online stores have great prices.

From the ones I've handled I goo with the Troy. Their products aren't cheap but the build quality is good.

I've got the 9" and really wish I had more space out front. The 9" is just a bit short of where I want to grab the rifle using my offhand to grab close to the muzzle. If I was buying new right now, I'd probably get as long of a rail as I could without interfering with my reflex suppresor mount.

If you are planning to cover the gas system completely then you will need at least 10 3/4" of length. Some brands you didn't list that make a sweet rail system are Wilson Combat and Centurian Arms.
