I've heard a fair amount of funny versions of the phrase "minute of angle" when describing a rifle's practical accuracy, such as:

-Minute of Buck
-Minute of Squirrel
-Minute of Watermelon
-Minute of Pizza Box
-Minute of Pie Plate
-Minute of Nazi (in reference to the Mosin Nagant)
-Minute of Dissident (Describing AK47 accuracy)

What is your version of minute of ______?

I heard minute of mattress on here awhile back, to describe a shot with a certain rifle at 1000 meters.

And today, actually....MOA stood for Minute of Arrow. A friend and I were taking turns with the .22, trying to shoot an arrow out of a tree that someone got it stuck in....Lemme tell yea...Aluminum arrows are TOUGH! We ran through 3 10 round magazines shooting this thing at 30 yards, hitting and missing frequently. By the time we were done, the arrow was riddled with holes but still hanging on in the tree. I shot it 1 final time and it finally gave up the fight, lol.

I say that a friend's .50-70 Sharps conversion carbine shoots Minute of Commanche.
But of course that is Ethnically Insensitive.

I use Minute of Pop Can. If I can hit a pop can offhand at 50 yards with a rifle, I figure that's good enough for me. :)

"Minute-of-moron" in recognition of the two morons who tried to unlawfully enter our home when I was 17-years-old. Let's just say that the sight of even a "lowly" .30-30 Win bolt-action rifle, is a mighty big stick when it comes to persuasive communication.

Sometimes you just have to lighten-up, and have fun. Fun thread. Thanks for starting it.

My favorite is minute of dinner plate.
If a rifle can't hold to a 9" plate @ 100 meters and a pistol can't keep bullets on the same plate at 25 meters, the gun needs work or needs to be replaced.

I am a big proponent of minute of golf ball for my .22's. My dad and I like to play 18 holes at the range. The old man needs glasses to read a book but usually beats me with iron sights:confused:

I like minute of ark. 300 cubits by 50 cubits by 30 cubits. Cubits being about twenty inches, if you can't hit a minute of ark, throw the gun overboard.

Not to brag, but I have a 100% hit-rate on minute-of-earth. Doesn't matter what direction I fire, the load, I can even to it blindfolded. I've never missed. I do think that of all of the variables, the single most significant one has been gravitational pull. :scrutiny:

Minute or less of time it takes to google and learn that the term "minute" describes 1/60 of something... so it doesn't make a lot of sense when describing the ability to hit a deer or pie plate or bad guy!

Nobody?

It's not a chat room, we log in daily, some threads go for weeks.

Minute of whatever is common, and shows the emphasis on accuracy that many shooters have. On the other hand, tactical shooters tend toward number of hits in the least amount of time. A triple tap in fractions of a second doesn't seem to have a cute math expression to misuse yet.
