If you owned Remington...

Since we did the (mostly) handgun manufactures, I thought we should include the rifle/shotgun side too.

Here's my list:

Redesign the 710 (a good concept) as a FUNCTIONAL FIREARM and add .223 & 7.62x39 as lightweight options.
Bring out the 7400 & 7600 "Tactical Carbines" in .223, .308, & 7.62x39 w/ 10rd. mags & aperture sights.
Bring out the 870 & 1100 for the 12ga. mini-shells (& market ammo for them).
Put iron sights on ALL rifles....:D

UPDATE: Bring back the Model 51 pistol w/ DAO operation in .380 and 9mm.

Do something about quality control!

Do away with those stupid J locks on the new guns.

Make Rock 5R barrels and McMillian stocks options on 700P rifles.

Make an 870 Trap and 1100 Trap model without the engraving on the receiver.

Yeah, no more internal locks.

Offer coupons with bolt rifles that allows the purchase of larger, more traditional bolt handles on all bolt guns. Offer the 257 Roberts, 6.5x55 and 7x57 in the ADL Synthetic series.

Have a line with similar features to the one-per-year 700 Classic series in more calibers.

Stock LPA ghost ring sights (a la Benelli) on 870 Poh-leece models.

January 29, 2003, 05:21 PM
I am so selfish. I would stock up on all the things I wanted and then I would work on quality control and customer service!

Bring back the 788.

Bring back the Model 8 or 81, in something like 7mm-08, or .260 Remington, or .243.

Get rid of the liability locks, the dimples in the 870 magazine tube, and the pressure point bump in the Laminated Stock 700 varmint series.

Adapt the LTR to take the M-14 magazine or M-16 magazine (depending on the caliber) and add a scout type scope base to it. Personally, I wouldn't want one. You can't get snug and low for prone shooting with a long magazine propping you up but y'know, some folks see human wave attacks coming their direction. If it increases sales, why not? After all, we (meaning Remington) won't be making or supplying magazines.

Make a 50 BMG bolt rifle.:)

January 29, 2003, 09:08 PM
Bring back the old nylon 22's.

January 29, 2003, 09:21 PM
Remington 1911s and possibly AR15s would be very interesting.

Hire the best QC team in the world and put'em to work.
Fire 90% of the bean counters.
Fight every law suit to the bitter end and then appeal for the next 100 years.

Chamber the Model Seven (18.5 in barrel) in 6.5X55.

Make the 597 work and retrofit the failures already sold.

Make a high quality tungsten matrix shot shell for waterfowl and figure out how to sell 'em for 5-6 dollars a box.

and that's about all I have to say about that.

Since the new owners have taken over I have heard more and more quality problems .Sinc e their gun designs are good they need an old sob curmudgeon like myself to run QC, and put engineering in charge not the bean counters. Been there , done that , and it sure makes the sparks fly ! But the bean counters justification for letting garbage out the door can be bizarre !

Reintroduce the Remington Single Action Revolver. Only do it at a price people would pay. That would put a crimp in the foreign made guns. And make it a regular production item, not a custom shop deal like S&W's was.

Get rid of the lawyer safetys.

Introduce a 250 gr real Keith SWC load at 900fps in the .45 Colt and .44 Special.

Agreed, reintroduce the Nylon 66, and put iron sights on all rifles.
Scopes are great for those who want them, but not all of us do.

Make an affordable Rolling Block in .45-70 and .50-70.

January 30, 2003, 11:05 PM
1) Drop the inline M700 action muzzle-loading rifle. Have a custom shop that produces the old traditional model muzzle-loading rifles and muskets.

2) Bring back the model 1858 and 1875 Revolvers.

3) Bring back the Remmington Rolling Block rifle in original BP cartridges.

4) Bring back the Remmington Derringer in .41 rimfire and perhaps .38 S&W.

January 30, 2003, 11:28 PM
1) make all models available in LH.

2) make all models available in all calibers.

I can not figure out the reasoning behind the selection available. You can get a RH model in a given caliber, but not the LH?!?:cuss:
