American Fined for Gesture Leaving Brazil (http://apnews.myway.com/article/20040208/D80J56QO0.html)

allowed to leave the southeastern resort town of Foz do Iguacu, 500 miles southeast of Sao Paulo, after paying $17,200 for raising his middle finger when he was fingerprinted and photographed.

Having traveled all over our globe I have witnessed many displays of American arogance.

Does anyone think this guy was OK doing what he did?

Just curious.

What would the TSA do to a Brazilian who did the same thing here?

He'd probably find out soon enough if there are any other Portugese speakers at Gitmo.

In my state only $0 to $10K fine. Have yet to see it prosecuted.

Imagine if it was vigorously enforced, every morning commute would have the state in the black until 2009!:D

Not only that, but there'd be enough money to fund Kernan's all day kindergarten plan, and build I-69 as well. :D

glocksman, no, not I-69. Our money for that would somehow still get sent to NY, CA and TX to buy votes!;)

Actualy on second thought. If I were fined for flipping people off, i'd have to take a second mortgage just to go to work.
