I started this build with a Savage Model 11 center feed in .243. I replaced the trigger with a Rifle Basix Sav-1. Next, I replaced the stock with a Boyds Laminate thumbhole stock. Then I topped it with a Simmons 3-9x40. (from when simmons was worth a crap) Finally, I sanded and fixed the stock to free float the barrel locking nut and the entire barrel. I also sanded down sharp edges and threw on a caldwell fixed bipod. This was my first custom build, and I am pretty proud of myself. I think it turned out nicely

Precisionrifle14, I just did a similar project. I didn't do anything with the trigger yet though, as I have not yet even fired the rifle. Imagine that.... completely modding a gun without ever having fired it. We gun nuts are an odd bunch, huh? You can check mine out here:

There's a photo. The computer inverted the image, it's actually a right-handed rifle.

Precision Rifle 14--Nice looking rifle!
Have used a Boyd's stock myself, and the rifle turned out better than I felt I had any right to expect.
May we please have a range report when you've shot yours?
