Rocketmedic January 30, 2012, 01:53 AM Direct Quote from my wife..."that pistol is tiny. You're just scared of getting another 45." Shed caught me looking at a CZ82 review. Truth be told, I'm looking more for a non 45 pistol. So what can be had for under $400? Reliable automatic or +p 38 Special (minimum ) preferred.

cromlw January 30, 2012, 02:13 AM too many to list,Kahr CM9,Ruger LC9,Ruger SR-9c and on and on.....
Alex_100_man_slayer January 30, 2012, 02:33 AM kel-tec pf9 is a good choice.
Alex_100_man_slayer January 30, 2012, 02:37 AM Then again if your going for a trainer you should look into a full sized .22 pistol it really depends on what you want in a $-400 gun edc, plinking, hd, range gun.

Ruger LCP or LC9. ;)

machinecraig January 30, 2012, 09:11 AM How about a S&W Model 10? Bud's (and probably others) have them for around $270 - part of a large volume police trade-in. Can handle .38 special +p, and by all accounts are good shooters.
jem375 January 30, 2012, 10:24 AM Another couple to look at, the Ruger LCR in 38+p or the S&W model 739, nothing wrong with revolvers in that caliber...
antiquus January 30, 2012, 12:11 PM Spend a little time looking, and you can both a CZ-82 and a Model 10 used for probably $450, and have two excellent and fun guns to shoot.
wlewisiii January 30, 2012, 01:59 PM In order of preference:
Used Model 10
Used Glock 19
New Ruger P95
New S&W Sigma
Dnaltrop January 30, 2012, 03:52 PM If you don't have one, another vote here for the Model 10.
It's a great chunk of steel, usually a great trigger, and one turned my (understandably) phobic wife into a shooter.
knoxy January 30, 2012, 04:20 PM What's wrong with 13 rounds of 9x18mak from the CZ-82? It's a great, accurate, reliable shooter. I love mine.
AFAIK, 9x18mak vs .38 special is a toss-up. There's some +p loads out there for it too.
For $400 you could get a CZ82 & 1000 rounds of ammo.
nyrifleman January 30, 2012, 05:16 PM If you're looking at a CZ82, I'd consider a Makarov. Small, all-steel, good trigger on the ones I've handled and best of all: stupid reliable. I've never had a single failure of any sort, though I've had failures with both the Ruger LCP and Kel-Tec P11 that people are suggesting. 9x18 is weaker than 9mm Luger, but more powerful than .38 special or .380 ACP
My Mak is my daily carry
Andrew Wyatt January 30, 2012, 05:31 PM Glock 19.
