With the political future what it is (again), I think its time for everyone to help to ensure our gun rights. Whether you like them or not, the NRA is the 800 pound gorilla in DC.

As a recruiter, I can offer special discounted memberships for a limited time that are not available online (aside from the 1 yr.). They can only be offered through a recruiter via the NRA membership applications that I have. Its a bit of work, but I'd like to offer them here. If anyone is interested in these discounts, send me a pm with your address. I'll mail you the application form and then you can mail it back to me.

The discounts are:

One year - $25 instead of $35
Three years - $70 instead of $85
Five years - $100 instead of $125

First round of applications have been received from everyone and processed to the NRA. Membership materials should be arriving in a few weeks for everyone.

I don't get people that complain about $300 vs $750 vs $1000. I thought the point of joining is to fund the NRA to support gun rights. You're putting dollars into a big pool to fight for you. Buy the level of support you can afford but don't whine about "a good deal" or how its stupid to pay $750 or $1000. The personal benefits are secondary to the primary goal of putting money towards the cause. If someone is seriously avoiding membership to a cause they claim to support because the pile of free crap they get in return isn't big enough, then they don't really care much about that cause to begin with. People with the financial means to buy into $5,000 dinners with presidential candidates don't do it for the food. They do it for the cause and the food is a minor footnote.

You're absolutely right. Actually, I feel kinda cheap for getting the life membership at 300.00. But, I had previsouly bought a year membership, followed by a two year membership, followed by a 3 year membership, which at the time of my anual renewal, I had over a year left on that 3 year membership. So all told, I've got nearly 500.00 in it. Other than the chick-a-dee check off, that's about the extent of my political givings. But those are two things I truly do care about. I also always do the round up at Midway whenever I place an order (its a win win, I help a cause, and it makes my debit a nice whole number).

And some people complain about the money going towards lots of mailings from the NRA. If you log into your account on their website it's easy to opt-out of those. I did it and only get important things now, like board of director election ballots.
I don't agree with everything they do, but they've come a long way since the 1986 incident and now respect modern rifles, and are more receptive to concerns the title II crowd.
It's not perfect for everybody's particular interests but they are the only pro-gun group that has serious clout in washington and pick the battles they can win (instead of wasting money on ones they can't). The restoration of our 2a rights are going to come one slice at a time, no matter now small it seems. And they are the only pro-2a group the anti-gun career policians actually FEAR.

I did it over the phone and it took me all of 10 minutes. I called
the 800 number and said "I would like the $300 life membership."
I gave the nice lady my info and the sponsor membership #. That
was it.

Cesiumsponge, that's great for people that have the money available. If I had $1000 to do it I would, but I have a very tight budget and a family to take care of. If I got a chance to support something like the NRA, that I do care about, for a price I could afford, I would be more apt to do it.

Please don't misunderstand. I'm not faulting folks that aren't selling their kids to pay the NRA life membership. I'm just a bit mystified at people who complain about "high prices" when there is no pressure or obligation. I did the dollar round-up and annual membership for years before finally doing a life membership but I've got no kids to waste money on. If I did, I'd still be doing a yearly subscription since it works out ot a few bucks a month.

If folks do the Midway USA nearest dollar round ups, the $10/yr associate memberships, $25/yr discounted annual memberships, cool! Awesome! Every dollar helps. I just don't see a reason that people feel the need to complain about the life membership prices unless people don't perceive they're getting "their money's worth" for the "money spent". It should really be thought of as "money donated".

First of all I want to thank longknife12 for letting me use his information to upgrade my NRA membership to LIFE for $300.00. It took 10 minutes on the phone and took only 4 days to show up in my membership status.

I know there are folks out there that are in the same boat as me. I don't make a ton of money but when I found out that it was possible to upgrade for $300.00, I jumped on it! I've been an ANNUAL member of the NRA since 1984 and never thought I would be able to afford to upgrade to LIFE. I never seemed to have enough scratch to take the plunge. This program surfaced at a time when I couldn't swing $1000 BUT $300 was doable!

I know there are a bunch of folks out there that aren't fond of the NRA for one reason or another but they are OUR 800 lb Gorilla keeping the Wacka-Nuts in check.

I was on the year to year plan until I went the EPL route (Easy Pay Life). Then this March, I had about $75 to go, and I just paid the balance of it.

In a blink of an eye, almost 7 years had passed (wife and I even started a family with 2 boys) and I'm now proud to say I'm a Life Member.

If nothing else, American Rifleman is well worth $25 a year.

I am a Life Member, and I would like to buy a gift Life Membership for a young kid just starting out. He's 17. Is that doable? Can I sponsor him? How does that work? Obviously, I'd like to take advantage of the $300 offer if possible.

The NRA has offered free memberships in the past. Those memberships do not come with a magazine subscription and I'm not sure what other member benefits might also be restricted.

My understanding is the free membership deals are offered from time to time on a limited basis. I could be wrong on that so the best wayt o find out is to contact the NRA.
