Hi everyone,
I have read about how early oprods for the M1 were often later cut in a certain place as a stress relief. If anyone can do so, I'm curious to see what a cut oprod looks like next to an uncut one. Thanks!
BTW, I just shot an M1 for the first time this weekend, in a CMP match. More on that in another thread soon.

The picture you are looking for is in the Dec. 2003 issue of the American Rifleman magazine, page 48.

Wow! Thanks very much, hps and Houndawg! Another proof that this site is a great resource.
I'm going to try to get my match target photographed and posted in a new thread tonight before I go to sleep. It's late already, but I'm a night owl. Fun experience.
BTW, my new-to-me Garand (not the one I shot in the match) is Nov '42 production and from the pictures Houndawg posted, it has a post-war oprod.
