Is there a place in DFW area to go and test silencers to compare which are more quiet?
I want a couple of silencers this year but would like to test several out to make sure I get the best a quietest ones in their respected calibers.
The calibers I want to test are .22, 9mm, .45acp, 5.56, 6.8 spc, .308, .338LM

Disclaimer: This statement is only hearsay passed on from other users and a few manufacturers.
There is very little, if any, appreciable difference between suppressor performance regarding sound reduction. The differences are in weight, size, materials, and features (QD, etc).

Sounds like a very expensive quest. You will test multiple cans on various hosts to determine noise level, POI change, FRP etc? I would imagine that retailers that stock a large selection of silencers might not have access to the expensive/sensitive noise monitoring equipment needed to test them. Some may want you to buy before testng.
You might want to pay these guys for their info first; http://www.silencerresearch.com/

Silencerco will be sponsoring their first annual Silencers are Legal shoot at Elm Fork Range Complex in Dallas on the 28th of April 2012.
Tickets are $12.00 and are on sale here:
http://www.silencersarelegal.com/legalshoot/index.html
Most every Siilencer manufacture will be represented and there will be models to test (for the cost of ammo).
This is the closest thing your gonna find in your area to what you are looking for and it will be well worth the $12.00 price of admission.

I agree with ATCDoktor. If the Silencers Are Legal shoot is anything like the last several Silencer Shoots that AAC put on there is no better place to try a variety of stuff.
