Optics cleaning?

I have been buying some good optics in the past few years whenever I have some extra money to do so (and sometimes when I don't). I know to take a camera lens cleaning brush to get the dust off and to use a microfiber cloth to wipe them off

What do you guys use when you have to use some kind of liquid? I have ordered a peca lens cleaning kit from Amazon, which they claim is safe for all optics including high end camera lens I just don't want to take the chance of destroying the coatings on the lens. Manufacturers will say anything to sell their product.

I keep covers on my scopes, but eventually they do and will need cleaning.

I am curious as to what you guys use when you have to do cleaning that the brush and cloth won't handle.

I make my own, It consists of 8 parts distilled water/2parts white vinegar/1part isopropyl alcohol.

I use eyeglass lens cleaner, kind of like isopropyl alcohol, I believe.

Just a drop or less should work.

I use camera lens cleaner (silicone wipes, I believe) and the solution for camera and glasses lenses. You don't want to wash so hard that you remove any lens coating! Of course, any dirt particles should be air-dusted off, rinsed off and/or blown off before attempting to clean, you don't want to scratch the lenses.

How vulnerable are the lens coatings to damage?

Just depends, The thing I try to watch out for on muti coated lenses are abbrassive dirt and sand that can scratch the lenses. I would not try test any chemicles on my lenses. When I get dirt on them I use an air puffer to get the dirt off and then a lense brush before I do any cleaning.
